A sure indicator that your air air conditioner has a low charge of refrigerant is to hear the compressor clutch cycle on and off as it idles with an outside air temperature of 70 F or above.
Again, start the engine, turn on the air conditioner, and listen for a rhythm of clicking from under the hood. For example it might "click", then wait 30 seconds, then another lower sounding "click", then another 30 seconds and it starts all over again. Or it might be faster than that.
That usually means you have a low charge of refrigerant in the air conditioning system. It is the compressor turning on and off as the pressures change in the system.
If you are unsure of what this sounds like and you think it might be your sound, come by and I will listen with you.
